Avera McKennan Hospital & University Health Center is a 545-bed tertiary care center, recognized for excellence in areas such as cancer treatment, stroke care and neurosciences, orthopedics, women’s services, pediatrics, neonatal intensive care, emergency and trauma, critical care, hospice, and medical research. We’re home to the region’s longest standing kidney and pancreas transplant programs, and the region’s only bone marrow transplant program. Avera McKennan has the state’s only specialized medical practice for liver disease, and will soon offer the state’s first and only liver transplant program. Avera McKennan’s state-of-the-art Emergency Department is a Level II Trauma Center, where average “door-to-doctor” time is 20 minutes. Avera McKennan’s enduring legacy reaches back nearly 100 years.
